Possible Causes
Seized pump impeller in Kripsol wet end, Blocked suction line or closed valve causing overload, Defective motor run capacitor on Kripsol single-phase motor, Shorted motor windings in Kripsol pump motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off the breaker and ensure the pump cannot start unexpectedly.
- Check for hydraulic blockage: Close valves, remove the Kripsol pump lid, and take out the strainer basket. Reach in and try to spin the impeller with a screwdriver or your fingers (wear gloves). It should turn smoothly. Remove any debris (stones, leaves, cable ties) that may be jamming it.
- Inspect valves and filters: Ensure suction and return valves are fully open. Check that the sand filter multiport valve is not set to CLOSED. A severely clogged filter can overload the pump; backwash the Kripsol sand filter if pressure is high.
- Run capacitor test: On single-phase Kripsol pumps, a weak run capacitor can cause high current. Locate the capacitor housing on the motor, discharge it safely, and test with a capacitance meter. Replace if more than 10–15% below rated µF.
- Motor condition: If the impeller spins freely and capacitor is good, the motor windings may be shorted. A technician can perform insulation and winding resistance tests. In most cases, the motor or complete motor assembly must be replaced.
If E02 persists after clearing obstructions and replacing the capacitor, discontinue use to avoid further damage and call a professional.
