Water leaks from the unions or threaded connections on the suction or discharge side of the pump.

Possible Causes

Loose Kripsol union nuts, Damaged union O-rings, Cracked union body from freezing, Improperly sealed threaded fittings (no PTFE tape or sealant)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the pump and relieve pressure by opening the pump lid slowly.

  • Tighten unions: Hand-tighten the Kripsol pump unions; use a strap wrench if necessary but avoid overtightening which can crack plastic.
  • Inspect O-rings: Disassemble the union and inspect the O-ring. Replace if flattened, cracked, or missing. Lubricate lightly with silicone grease before reassembly.
  • Check for cracks: Look for hairline cracks in the union body or pump ports, especially after freezing weather. Replace any cracked components.
  • Reseal threads: If threaded adapters are leaking, remove, clean, and reinstall with PTFE tape or appropriate thread sealant compatible with pool chemicals.
