Possible Causes
Impeller jammed by debris, Foreign object in Lowara pump volute, Severely worn or seized mechanical seal, Failed motor bearing causing lock‑up
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power and close isolation valves before dismantling the pump.
- Check for external blockage: Remove the pump lid and inspect the strainer basket and suction port. Clear any visible debris.
- Inspect impeller: Remove the motor from the pump housing following Lowara’s service instructions. Check the impeller for stones, tiles, or plastic lodged between impeller and volute.
- Check mechanical seal: Look for signs of leakage or melted seal faces that may have seized. A seized seal can lock the shaft.
- Test shaft rotation: With the wet end removed, rotate the motor shaft by hand. If it will not turn or feels rough, the bearings are likely failed.
- Reassemble and test: After clearing obstructions and replacing any damaged parts, reassemble, prime, and restart.
- When to call a pro: If the motor remains locked or E12 recurs, a full motor or pump replacement may be required.
