Pump will not start, digital controller shows E01 immediately when ON is pressed.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.

How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the pool pump isolator and main breaker before touching the pump. Verify with a non-contact voltage tester.
Steps to check:
- Inspect for mechanical seizure: Remove the pump lid on the Onga wet end, take out the basket, and reach in (power OFF) to try to rotate the impeller by hand or with a screwdriver on the motor shaft fan. If it will not turn, debris or scale may be jamming the impeller.
- Clear debris: Remove any stones, leaves, or plastic lodged in the impeller. Reassemble the basket and lid, ensuring the O-ring is clean and lubricated with silicone grease.
- Check the motor fan: At the rear of the Onga motor, try to spin the cooling fan by hand. If it is stiff or seized, the motor bearings may have failed.
- Inspect the start capacitor: On many Onga pool pumps (e.g., Onga Leisuretime, Pantera, PPP series), the start/run capacitor is mounted in a housing on top or side of the motor. Look for bulging, leaking, or burnt smell. Replace with an identical µF and voltage-rated capacitor if defective.
- Reset overload (if fitted): Some Onga motors have a manual reset thermal overload button on the terminal box. Allow the motor to cool for 30–60 minutes, then press the reset and try again.
If the motor still trips E01 or hums and stops, the windings may be shorted and the motor assembly should be tested and replaced by a qualified technician.
