Possible Causes

Water ingress into motor terminal box, cracked motor housing, perished cable gland, winding insulation breakdown

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Critical safety: Do not attempt to run a pump suspected of earth leakage. Isolate power at the main switchboard and do not reset safety devices until inspected.

  • Visual inspection: Check the Onga motor terminal box cover and cable gland for cracks or missing gaskets. Look for signs of water or condensation inside.
  • Drying: If minor moisture is present, gently dry the area with a clean cloth and allow the motor to sit in a dry, ventilated area for 24–48 hours. Do not use open flames or excessive heat.
  • Check conduit and cable: Ensure water is not tracking down electrical conduit into the motor. Seal open conduit ends and replace damaged glands.
  • Insulation test: A proper megger test of the Onga motor windings to earth should be performed by a qualified technician or electrician.

If E06 reappears, the motor windings are likely compromised. Replace the complete motor or pump-motor assembly.
