Possible Causes
Air leak on suction line, low water level in pool, blocked skimmer basket, pump lid O-ring leaking
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before opening the pump lid or filter.
- Check pool water level: Ensure the water level is at least halfway up the skimmer opening so the skimmer weir does not draw air.
- Clean baskets: Empty the skimmer basket and the Onga pump strainer basket. Remove all leaves and debris.
- Inspect pump lid O-ring: Remove the lid, clean the O-ring and sealing surface, and apply a thin coat of silicone-based lubricant. Replace a flattened or cracked O-ring.
- Check suction fittings: Tighten unions on the suction side of the Onga pump. Look for bubbles in the pump housing when running, which indicate an air leak.
- Prime the pump: Fill the pump housing completely with water, refit the lid, open all valves, and then restart the pump. Allow the controller to run through the priming cycle.
If E08 continues, there may be a suction line blockage or underground leak that requires professional diagnosis.
