Possible Causes
Clogged pump basket, blocked Onga impeller, dirty filter media, closed return valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and release filter pressure before opening any components.
- Clean baskets: Remove and empty the skimmer basket and the Onga pump strainer basket. Rinse thoroughly.
- Check filter pressure: If the pressure gauge on the Onga filter is high, backwash (sand filter) or clean/replace the cartridge.
- Inspect impeller: If flow is still poor, remove the pump wet end housing and inspect the impeller eye for debris (hair, seeds, plastic). Clear all obstructions.
- Verify valves: Ensure all return and suction valves are fully open and that any diverter valves are correctly positioned.
After reassembly, prime the pump by filling the housing with water and restart. If low flow persists, the impeller may be worn or the wrong size for the system.
