Possible Causes

Shorted motor windings, water in motor terminal box, damaged power cable, incorrect wiring

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Critical safety: Do not repeatedly reset a tripping breaker or RCD. Isolate power and investigate.

  • Inspect cable: Check the Onga pump power lead for cuts, crushed sections, or exposed copper. Replace damaged cables.
  • Check terminal box: Open the motor terminal cover and look for water, corrosion, or burnt connections. Dry and clean minor corrosion; replace burnt parts.
  • Insulation test: Have a qualified electrician perform an insulation resistance test on the motor. Low readings indicate winding failure.

If the motor fails insulation tests or continues to trip protection devices, replace the motor or complete pump assembly.
