Possible Causes
Flattened or cracked housing o‑ring, Misaligned seal plate, Debris on sealing surfaces, Clamp not tightened evenly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and relieve pressure before loosening the clamp.
- Release clamp: Loosen and remove the Sta‑Rite pump clamp band or housing bolts. Separate the housing from the seal plate.
- Inspect o‑ring: Examine the large housing o‑ring for cracks, flattening, or chemical damage. Replace if any defects are found.
- Clean mating surfaces: Wipe the sealing surfaces on both the housing and seal plate to remove dirt or scale.
- Lubricate and reinstall: Lightly coat the new o‑ring with silicone pool lube, seat it properly, and reassemble the housing. Tighten the clamp evenly all around.
- Test for leaks: Restore power and run the pump, checking the seam for drips.
