Pump runs but has very low flow and weak return jets

Safety: Turn off power and relieve pressure at the filter air relief before opening any equipment.

• Clean baskets: Remove and empty the skimmer basket(s) and the Sta‑Rite pump strainer basket. Rinse thoroughly and reinstall.
• Check filter: Read the filter pressure gauge. If high, backwash sand/DE filters or clean cartridge elements per manufacturer instructions.
• Inspect impeller for clogging: If flow is still low, remove the pump lid and basket. Reach into the suction port and feel for debris at the impeller eye. If clogged, remove the motor from the wet end and clean the impeller vanes.
• Verify valves: Ensure suction and return valves are fully open and that any diverter valves are set correctly for pool circulation.
• Check for air leaks: Persistent air in the pump lid can reduce flow; inspect lid o‑ring and suction fittings.
