Safety: Allow the motor to cool before touching it.

Improve ventilation: Ensure the Sta‑Rite motor has adequate clearance and is not enclosed in a tight box. Remove debris around the motor.
Check system pressure: High filter pressure indicates restriction. Clean or backwash the filter and open valves fully.
Listen for bearing noise: Grinding or squealing suggests failing bearings, which increase heat. Replace the motor if bearings are worn.
Verify voltage: Low voltage can cause overheating. Have an electrician measure voltage at the pump under load and correct any supply issues.
Monitor run time: After corrections, run the pump and see if it operates continuously without tripping.
