Possible Causes
Loose electrical connections, Undersized wiring causing voltage drop, Overheating motor tripping internal overload, Automation system misconfigured
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before tightening any electrical connections.
- Inspect wiring: Check all lugs and wire nuts in the pump junction box and sub‑panel. Tighten loose connections and replace any burnt components.
- Check motor temperature: If the motor is very hot when it shuts off, it may be tripping on thermal overload. See overheating troubleshooting and correct ventilation or load issues.
- Review automation settings: If controlled by an automation system, ensure there are no conflicting schedules or relay chatter causing rapid cycling.
- Measure voltage under load: Have an electrician check voltage at the pump while running. Significant drop can cause cycling and must be corrected.
