Pump stops during operation and displays E02; may restart after a cool-down period.

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before inspecting the motor or wiring.

Steps to address overheating:

• 1. Improve ventilation: Check that the SuperFlo motor vents are not blocked by leaves, mulch, or walls. Clear debris and ensure at least several inches of clearance around the motor for airflow.
• 2. Check for direct sun and enclosure issues: If the pump is in a tight box or under a cover, ensure there is adequate ventilation. Consider adding vents or leaving the enclosure partially open during operation.
• 3. Inspect for restricted water flow: A clogged skimmer basket, pump basket, or dirty filter can cause the pump to work harder and overheat. Clean all baskets and backwash or clean the filter. Verify all valves are fully open on the suction and return lines.
• 4. Reduce speed and runtime: On SuperFlo VS models, lower the programmed RPM and/or duty cycle. High RPM for long periods in hot weather increases motor temperature.
• 5. Check motor fan and shroud: With power OFF, inspect the rear of the motor. Confirm the cooling fan spins freely and is not broken or obstructed. Replace the motor if the fan is damaged or the shaft is stiff.

If E02 persists after improving cooling and flow, the internal thermal sensor or drive may be failing and the motor/drive assembly should be evaluated or replaced by a professional.
