Possible Causes
Suction restriction (clogged line or undersized plumbing), Pump running at too high RPM (VS models), Water level too low, Air leaks on suction side
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening the pump or adjusting valves.
- 1. Reduce speed (VS models): Lower the programmed RPM on the SuperFlo VS to reduce suction intensity and cavitation.
- 2. Eliminate restrictions: Clean skimmer and pump baskets, backwash or clean the filter, and ensure suction valves are fully open.
- 3. Check water level and skimmer: Maintain pool water level at mid-skimmer. Ensure the skimmer weir is not stuck partially closed.
- 4. Inspect for air leaks: Check lid O-ring, unions, and suction fittings for air leaks as described in suction leak troubleshooting. Air ingestion promotes cavitation.
- 5. Evaluate plumbing design: If cavitation persists at normal speeds, consult a pool professional to evaluate suction line sizing and layout relative to pump size.
