Possible Causes
High ambient temperature and poor ventilation, Running at maximum RPM continuously, Blocked motor vents, Internal bearing friction
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use caution when touching the motor; surfaces can be very hot. Turn off power before cleaning vents.
- 1. Improve airflow: Clear debris from around the motor and ensure vents are unobstructed.
- 2. Reduce speed and runtime: On VS models, lower the RPM and consider running longer at lower speeds instead of short periods at maximum speed.
- 3. Check for bearing noise: Listen for grinding or whining that indicates bearing wear, which increases heat.
- 4. Monitor temperature: Some warmth is normal, but if the motor is too hot to touch briefly or trips thermal protection, further evaluation or motor replacement may be needed.
