Possible Causes
Clogged sand, cartridge, or DE filter, Closed or partially closed return valves, Blocked return lines, Undersized plumbing for pump speed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and relieve filter pressure before opening any filter or valves.
- 1. Clean or backwash filter: Follow the filter manufacturer’s instructions to backwash (sand/DE) or clean/replace cartridges. High pressure is often due to a dirty filter.
- 2. Check return valves: Ensure all return-side valves are fully open.
- 3. Inspect return fittings: Look for blocked eyeball fittings or in-floor cleaning heads that may be stuck.
- 4. Reduce pump speed (VS models): Lower the SuperFlo VS RPM to reduce system pressure if plumbing is marginal.
