Possible Causes

Blocked impeller, Seized motor bearings, Incorrect programming causing excessive load, Internal motor fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power and lock out the breaker before disassembling the pump.

  • Step 1 – Inspect wet end: Remove the pump lid and basket. Check for debris lodged in the impeller. If necessary, separate the pump housing to fully inspect and clean the impeller and diffuser.
  • Step 2 – Check shaft rotation: With the wet end removed, spin the motor shaft by hand. If it is stiff, noisy, or does not spin freely, the bearings are likely failing.
  • Step 3 – Review programming: Ensure the pump is not programmed to run at maximum RPM against closed valves or a very restrictive system. Open valves and reduce RPM if needed.
  • Step 4 – Replace motor/drive: If mechanical components are clear and Alarm 003 persists, the motor or drive is likely defective and should be replaced as a unit.
