Safety first: Only a qualified electrician should work inside electrical panels or measure live voltage.

Step 1 – Confirm supply voltage: Have an electrician measure the line voltage at the pump terminals while the pump attempts to start. Compare to the pump nameplate rating (typically 230 V). Anything significantly above 253 V can trigger Over Voltage.
Step 2 – Inspect wiring run: Check for incorrect wiring (e.g., 277 V feed on a 230 V pump), mis‑tapped transformer, or shared circuits with high‑load equipment causing spikes.
Step 3 – Tighten connections: Loose lugs in the sub‑panel or at the pump can cause erratic voltage readings. With power OFF, tighten all lugs and inspect for heat damage.
Step 4 – Surge protection: Consider installing a whole‑panel surge protector and/or a Pentair‑approved surge device to protect the drive from transient overvoltage.
Step 5 – Replace drive if damaged: If Over Voltage occurred due to a surge and the pump no longer runs even with corrected voltage, the drive may be damaged and require replacement.

Important: Do not attempt to operate the pump on an incorrect voltage; this can cause catastrophic drive failure.
