Possible Causes
Loose union nuts, Damaged union O‑rings, Misaligned plumbing putting stress on unions, Cracked union body from overtightening or freezing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off pump and relieve system pressure before loosening unions.
- Step 1 – Tighten unions: Hand‑tighten the suction and discharge union nuts. Do not use large wrenches that can crack the fittings.
- Step 2 – Inspect O‑rings: If leaking persists, shut off valves, loosen unions, and inspect the O‑rings. Replace flattened, cracked, or missing O‑rings with Pentair‑specified replacements and apply a light coat of silicone lube.
- Step 3 – Check alignment: Ensure the connected PVC plumbing is properly aligned and not forcing the unions off‑center. Correct any misalignment with additional fittings or supports.
- Step 4 – Replace cracked unions: If the union body is cracked, replace the union kit designed for your Pentair pump model.
