Pump runs but has very low flow or weak return jets, even at higher RPM on Pentair IntelliFlo or WhisperFloXF VS.

Safety first: Turn off the pump before opening any lids or valves.

• Step 1 – Clean all baskets: Remove and thoroughly clean the pump strainer basket and all skimmer baskets.
• Step 2 – Backwash or clean filter: If you have a sand or DE filter, backwash per Pentair instructions. For cartridge filters (e.g., Clean & Clear Plus), remove cartridges and hose them off. Replace if heavily worn.
• Step 3 – Check valves: Ensure suction and return valves are fully open and that any diverter valves are not partially closed.
• Step 4 – Inspect for obstructions: Check visible suction lines for collapses or obstructions. If a suction cleaner is attached, disconnect it and test flow.
• Step 5 – Increase RPM temporarily: Run the pump at a higher RPM to help purge air and debris, then adjust to normal operating speed.
