Possible Causes
Oversized heater for pool volume, Incorrect thermostat differential, Flow switch or pressure switch chatter, Poor water flow stability
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before adjusting internal controls.
- Check water flow stability: Ensure the circulation pump runs continuously while the Raypak heat pump is calling for heat. Avoid using timers that shut the pump off while the heater is on.
- Clean filter and baskets: Fluctuating flow due to a dirty filter can cause switches to open and close rapidly.
- Adjust thermostat differential (if available): Some Raypak controls allow adjusting the temperature differential to reduce cycling. Follow the manual to increase the differential slightly.
- Inspect flow/pressure switches: Replace any switch that chatters or opens intermittently despite stable flow.
