Possible Causes
Failed mechanical shaft seal, Cracked pump housing or volute, Leaking Raypak heat exchanger manifold, Loose unions or gaskets
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power and relieve system pressure before tightening or opening any plumbing.
- Identify leak source: Dry the area and observe where water first appears—at the pump seal plate, unions, or under the Raypak heat pump cabinet.
- Tighten unions: Hand‑tighten inlet and outlet unions at the pump and Raypak heat pump manifold. Replace union gaskets if they are flattened or cracked.
- Inspect pump seal: If water drips between the motor and pump housing, the mechanical seal is likely failed. Replace the seal using a Raypak seal kit.
- Check heat exchanger/manifold: If water is leaking from inside the Raypak heat pump cabinet, a manifold O‑ring or the heat exchanger may be leaking. This typically requires disassembly and replacement of the manifold gaskets or exchanger.
