Possible Causes
Failed power supply section on Rheem control board, Shorted IGBT or drive transistor in variable‑speed module, Surge or lightning damage, Corrupted firmware
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Disconnect power at the breaker and wait several minutes for internal capacitors to discharge before opening the drive housing.
- Visual inspection: Remove the Rheem control/drive cover. Look for burned components, bulged capacitors, or scorch marks on the PCB. If present, the board must be replaced.
- Check for water damage: Inspect gaskets and seals. Any signs of water intrusion (rust, mineral deposits) indicate the board has likely been compromised.
- Attempt a factory reset: If the board appears clean, restore power and perform a factory reset per the Rheem manual. Reprogram settings and test.
- Verify line voltage: Confirm correct voltage at the control input. Overvoltage or miswiring can cause repeated failures and must be corrected before installing a new board.
- Replace control module: If E10 persists after reset and wiring checks, replace the Rheem pump control/drive module with the exact part number specified for your model.
