Pump attempts to start, hums briefly, then stops and displays E02 on the Speck controller.

Safety first: Isolate power at the breaker and lock it out if possible. Confirm the pump cannot start unexpectedly.

Mechanical checks:

• Open pump strainer lid: Close suction and return valves. Remove the transparent Speck strainer lid and basket. Clear any large debris.
• Check impeller rotation: With the pump drained and power OFF, reach through the diffuser opening (if accessible) or turn the motor shaft from the rear fan cover. The shaft should rotate smoothly by hand. If it is locked, suspect debris in the impeller or seized bearings.
• Inspect for foreign objects: Remove the pump housing screws and pull the motor/volute assembly. Check the impeller and diffuser for stones, tiles, or plastic that could block rotation.

Electrical checks:

• Verify correct voltage and phases: Use a multimeter to confirm the correct voltage and that all phases are present for three-phase Speck pumps. Phase loss can cause high current and E02.
• Measure winding resistance: With the motor disconnected, measure winding resistance between terminals. Very low or zero ohms may indicate a shorted winding.

If the impeller is clear and the shaft still binds or the windings test faulty, the motor assembly should be replaced or professionally rewound.
