Possible Causes
Blocked suction line or closed suction valve, Pool water level below skimmer causing air intake, Clogged Speck pump strainer basket, Air leak on suction side fittings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power before opening the pump lid or working on plumbing.
Restore water supply:
- Check pool water level: Ensure the water level is at least halfway up the skimmer opening so the skimmer does not draw air.
- Open suction valves: Verify that all suction valves (skimmer, main drain, vacuum line) are open as required.
- Clean strainer basket: Remove the Speck pump strainer lid, take out the basket, and clear leaves and debris. Reinstall correctly.
Prime the pump:
- Fill the pump housing with water through the strainer opening.
- Check and lubricate the lid O-ring with silicone grease to ensure an airtight seal.
- Restart the pump and observe for stable flow.
If E08 recurs and the pump loses prime, inspect suction-side unions and fittings for air leaks and repair or replace as needed.
