Impeller not fully tightened on shaft, Broken impeller hub, Pump running with insufficient suction head causing cavitation, Air pockets in volute
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and close valves before opening the pump.
Check impeller mounting:
- Remove the pump housing and inspect the Speck impeller. Ensure it is firmly threaded or bolted to the motor shaft.
- If the hub is cracked or stripped, replace the impeller.
Address cavitation:
- Ensure suction valves are fully open and suction lines are not undersized or excessively long.
- Verify adequate water level and that skimmers are not drawing air.
Reassemble and test. Persistent rattling may indicate further internal damage requiring part replacement.
