Possible Causes
Failed start capacitor (single-phase Speck motor), Open thermal protector inside motor, Broken winding lead at terminal block, Defective ON/OFF switch on Speck control box
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Isolate power and verify with a meter before opening the motor terminal box.
Basic checks:
- Test switch: If there is an external switch, test continuity when ON. Replace if open.
- Inspect capacitor: Remove the capacitor cover on the Speck motor. Look for bulging, leaking, or burnt smell. Test capacitance with a meter; replace if out of tolerance.
- Check windings: Measure resistance between motor terminals. Infinite resistance indicates an open winding or thermal fuse.
If the internal thermal protector or windings are open, the motor typically must be replaced or professionally rewound.
