Possible Causes
Supply voltage below pump rating, Loose line connection at pump terminal block, Undersized wiring causing voltage drop, Faulty breaker or service disconnect
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power at the pool sub-panel breaker and verify with a non-contact voltage tester before touching any wiring.
- Check supply voltage: With a multimeter and power restored, measure voltage at the pump input lugs. Compare to the nameplate rating (e.g., 230V). If more than ~10% low, contact an electrician to correct the supply.
- Inspect wiring connections: Turn power back off. Remove the Sta-Rite pump motor cover and inspect the line terminals. Tighten any loose screws and look for heat discoloration or melted insulation. Repair or replace damaged wire.
- Check wire gauge and run length: Confirm the installed wire size matches Sta-Rite installation manual for the distance and amperage. Long runs with small gauge wire can cause voltage drop; upgrade wiring if undersized.
- Inspect breaker and disconnect: Cycle the breaker OFF/ON. Look for corrosion or loose lugs in the disconnect. Replace any overheated or pitted breaker or disconnect components.
- Reset the pump: After correcting issues, restore power and press the pump's Stop/Start or Reset button. If E01 persists with correct voltage, the drive/control board may be faulty and should be evaluated by a technician.
