Possible Causes

Loose keypad ribbon cable, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Failed keypad membrane, Faulty main control board interface

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before opening the control panel.

  • Inspect keypad cable: Remove the Sta-Rite pump control cover. Locate the ribbon cable or connector from the keypad to the main board. Reseat the connector and ensure it is fully latched.
  • Check for moisture: Look for condensation, water droplets, or corrosion on the keypad PCB and connectors. Dry the area gently with a hair dryer on low heat and improve enclosure sealing if water entry is evident.
  • Test keypad buttons: After drying and reseating, restore power and test each button. If some buttons still do not work, the keypad membrane may be defective.
  • Replace keypad or control assembly: Many Sta-Rite models require replacing the entire keypad/control cover assembly. If a new keypad does not resolve E06, the main control board may also need replacement.
