Possible Causes
Corrupted firmware, Failed power supply section on control board, Shorted internal component on PCB, Lightning or surge damage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off all power before removing any covers.
- Power cycle: Turn off the breaker for at least 5 minutes to fully discharge the drive. Restore power and see if E08 clears.
- Inspect for visible damage: Remove the control cover and look for burned components, bulging capacitors, or scorch marks on the Sta-Rite control board.
- Check for surge history: If the error appeared after a storm or power event, consider installing a surge protector at the pool panel to prevent future damage.
- Firmware/service: Some Sta-Rite models may allow firmware updates via service tools; this must be done by an authorized technician. In most residential cases, the entire control/drive module is replaced.
