Possible Causes
Pump not primed, Air leak on suction side, Blocked skimmer or main drain, Pump lid O-ring leaking
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before opening the pump lid.
- Prime the pump: Remove the Sta-Rite pump lid, fill the strainer housing with water using a hose, ensure the basket is seated, lubricate the lid O-ring with silicone lube, and reinstall the lid tightly.
- Check water level: Ensure pool water level is at least halfway up the skimmer opening so the skimmer does not draw air.
- Clear obstructions: Empty skimmer and pump baskets. Check that suction valves are open and that there are no obvious blockages in suction lines.
- Inspect for air leaks: With the pump running, look for air bubbles under the pump lid and in the return jets. Tighten unions on the suction side, replace cracked fittings, and replace a flattened or cracked Sta-Rite pump lid O-ring.
- Reset dry-run protection: After restoring prime and fixing leaks, restart the pump. If E10 persists despite solid prime and good flow, the flow/pressure sensing in the drive may be faulty.
