Possible Causes
Reversed RS-485 polarity, Broken communication cable, Incorrect baud rate or protocol setting, Faulty automation interface on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to both the pump and automation panel before working on low-voltage wiring.
- Verify wiring: Check the RS-485 or communication terminals on the Sta-Rite pump and the automation system (e.g., Pentair/Sta-Rite controller). Ensure A/B (or +/–) are matched correctly and wires are firmly clamped.
- Inspect cable: Look for cuts, splices, or corrosion in the communication cable. Replace damaged cable with twisted-pair, shielded wire as recommended.
- Check settings: In the automation menu, confirm the pump type, address, and baud rate match the Sta-Rite pump's configuration.
- Test standalone: Disconnect the automation cable and operate the pump from its local keypad. If E11 clears, the issue is in the external system or wiring. If E11 remains, the pump's communication interface may be faulty.
