Possible Causes
Flattened or cracked lid O-ring, Debris on sealing surface, Lid not tightened evenly, Warped pump lid
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off the pump before removing the lid.
- Clean sealing surfaces: Remove the Sta-Rite pump lid and O-ring. Wipe the groove and lid mating surface clean of sand, leaves, and scale.
- Inspect O-ring: Check for cracks, flat spots, or stretching. Replace with the correct Sta-Rite lid O-ring if any damage is found.
- Lubricate: Apply a thin coat of silicone-based pool lube to the O-ring to help it seat and seal properly.
- Reinstall lid: Seat the O-ring evenly, place the lid, and tighten the locking ring or clamps evenly by hand. Do not overtighten.
- Test for leaks: Restart the pump and observe for water or air leaks around the lid. Persistent leaks may indicate a warped lid that should be replaced.
