Possible Causes
Loose union nuts, Damaged union O-rings, Cracked union body or pump port, Improperly taped threaded adapters
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off the pump and relieve system pressure before loosening unions.
- Tighten unions: Hand-tighten Sta-Rite pump union nuts firmly. Use a strap wrench if needed, but avoid overtightening which can crack plastic.
- Inspect O-rings: Open the union and inspect the internal O-ring. Replace flattened, cracked, or missing O-rings with the correct Sta-Rite size.
- Check for cracks: Examine the union body and pump ports for hairline cracks. Replace any cracked components.
- Reseal threaded fittings: If threaded adapters are leaking, remove them, clean threads, and reinstall using PTFE tape and/or thread sealant rated for PVC.
