Possible Causes
Leaking pump lid O-ring, Loose suction union, Cracked suction pipe, Faulty suction-side check valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off the pump before working on plumbing.
- Inspect lid and unions: Clean and lubricate the Sta-Rite lid O-ring, and tighten suction-side unions.
- Check for visible leaks: With the pump running, look for water drips on the suction plumbing. Any water leak on suction side is also an air leak when the pump is off.
- Test check valve: If a suction-side check valve is installed, remove and inspect it for debris or worn flapper. Replace if it does not seal properly.
- Pressure test suction line: If leaks are suspected underground, a professional pressure test may be needed to locate and repair pipe leaks.
