Possible Causes

Tripped breaker at pool sub-panel, Faulty time clock or automation relay, Loose line connection at pump, Failed internal power supply on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Use caution when working in electrical panels. Turn off main power if necessary.

  • Check breakers and GFCI: Inspect the pool pump breaker and any GFCI outlets or breakers feeding the pump. Reset if tripped. If it trips again immediately, there may be a short.
  • Bypass timer/automation: If the pump is controlled by a mechanical timer or automation relay, temporarily bypass it by wiring the pump directly to the breaker (only if you are qualified) to see if the control device is faulty.
  • Verify voltage at pump: With a multimeter, measure voltage at the Sta-Rite pump line terminals. If no voltage is present, trace back to the panel to find the open circuit.
  • Inspect internal fuses: Some digital Sta-Rite pumps have internal low-voltage fuses on the control board. With power off, check and replace blown fuses with identical ratings.
  • Control board power supply: If line voltage is present but the display is dead and fuses are good, the internal power supply on the control board may have failed and the board will need replacement.
