Possible Causes

Moisture inside motor or control housing, Damaged insulation on motor windings, Cracked power cord, Water in electrical connections

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety First: This is a potential shock hazard. Immediately unplug the pump. Do not attempt to operate until the fault is resolved.

  • Inspect for visible water: Look for water inside the motor end bell, around the control panel, or in junction areas. If water is present, move the pump to a dry, sheltered location.
  • Dry thoroughly: Allow the pump to dry for at least 24–48 hours in a warm, ventilated area. Do not use heat guns directly on plastic housings.
  • Check cord and plug: Examine the Summer Waves GFCI plug and cord for cuts, nicks, or crushed sections. Replace the cord set if any damage is found.
  • Test on dry ground: Place the pump on a dry, non-conductive surface and plug into a GFCI outlet. If E7 or GFCI tripping persists, the motor windings or internal wiring are compromised and the pump should be replaced or serviced by a professional.
