Possible Causes
Failed mechanical shaft seal, Cracked pump housing, Loose housing bolts, Prolonged external splashing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety First: Unplug the pump immediately. Operating with water in the motor area is dangerous.
- Inspect for source: Look for water trails from the pump housing seam or shaft area into the motor.
- Replace seals or housing: If the leak originates at the shaft or housing seam, replace the mechanical seal and/or pump housing. On many Summer Waves units, this may require replacing the entire pump assembly.
- Protect from splashes: Relocate the pump to minimize direct splashing from the pool.
- Do not reuse corroded motor: If the motor casing is rusted or water has entered the motor, replace the motor assembly.
