Safety First: Unplug the pump and allow it to cool before touching the motor housing.

Ensure proper water flow: Clean the filter cartridge, skimmer, and intake screens. Confirm that hoses are not kinked and valves are fully open.
Check for dry running: Make sure the pump housing stays full of water during operation. If it empties, locate and fix suction leaks.
Clear vents: Clean dust and debris from the motor cooling vents with a soft brush.
Improve placement: Move the pump to a shaded, well-ventilated area on a solid, level surface.
Monitor run time: If the pump still overheats quickly, the internal thermal protector or windings may be failing and the motor assembly should be replaced.
