Possible Causes

Incoming supply voltage above specification, Incorrect wiring (230V wired to 115V motor), Neutral miswired or missing on 115V setup, Faulty transformer or power supply on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Shut off power at the main pool equipment breaker and lock it out if possible.

  • Verify nameplate voltage: Check the U.S. Motors pump motor nameplate for rated voltage (e.g., 230V only or 115/230V). Ensure the supply matches the rating.
  • Measure line voltage: With power restored briefly and the cover removed, use a multimeter to measure voltage at the pump input terminals. If it exceeds the rated voltage by more than ~10%, contact an electrician to correct the supply.
  • Check wiring configuration: On dual-voltage motors, confirm jumpers or selector are set correctly for 115V or 230V per the wiring diagram on the motor label. Incorrect configuration can trigger E02.
  • Inspect neutral and ground: For 115V installations, ensure neutral is correctly landed and not swapped with ground or line.
  • Reset and test: After correcting wiring or supply issues, power cycle the pump and clear the error. If E02 returns with correct voltage, the internal power supply or sensing circuit on the control board may be defective and require replacement.
