Possible Causes
Loose line conductor at terminal block, Blown breaker or fuse on one leg, Internal failure of inverter drive on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Warning: Only work on multi‑wire circuits if you are qualified. Turn off all breakers feeding the pump.
- Inspect terminal block: Remove the control cover and check that all line conductors are firmly secured to the Waterway pump terminal block. Tighten any loose screws.
- Check breakers/fuses: At the service panel, verify that all poles of the pump breaker are in the ON position and not tripped. Reset if necessary. If fuses are used, test each with a continuity tester.
- Measure voltage: With power on, measure between each pair of line terminals (L1–L2, etc.) to confirm balanced voltage. Any missing leg indicates a supply issue that must be corrected.
- Control board check: If supply is correct but E05 persists, the internal inverter or phase detection circuit on the control board may be defective. Replacement of the control board is typically required.
