Possible Causes
Reversed or loose RS‑485 wiring, Incorrect communication protocol settings, Faulty RS‑485 transceiver on control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power to both the pump and automation system before adjusting wiring.
- Verify wiring polarity: At the Waterway pump’s communication terminal block, confirm that A(+), B(−), and COM are wired correctly to the automation controller. Reverse A/B if necessary per the manuals.
- Check cable integrity: Inspect the communication cable for cuts, splices, or water damage. Replace if compromised.
- Confirm settings: In the pump menu, verify that external control mode is enabled and that the address/ID matches the automation system configuration.
- Isolate the bus: Disconnect other devices from the RS‑485 bus and test with only the pump connected. If E11 clears, another device or wiring segment may be causing bus errors.
- Board fault: If wiring and settings are correct but E11 persists, the RS‑485 interface on the control board may be defective and require board replacement.
