Possible Causes
Corrupted program memory on control board, Voltage spike during power restoration, Aging control board EEPROM
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power before performing any resets that require opening the unit.
- Soft reset: Turn the breaker off for 2–3 minutes, then back on. Attempt to clear the error via the keypad by holding the STOP or RESET button as described in the Waterway manual.
- Factory reset: If available in the menu, perform a factory default reset of the pump’s programming. Re‑enter schedules and speeds afterward.
- Surge protection: Install a surge protector at the pool equipment pad to prevent future memory corruption from spikes.
- Board replacement: If E12 cannot be cleared or returns after each power cycle, the EEPROM on the control board is likely damaged and the board should be replaced.
