Possible Causes
Cracked PVC fitting or union, Improperly applied thread sealant, Over‑tightened fitting stressing Waterway housing, Warped pump housing port
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off the pump and relieve pressure before working on plumbing.
- Identify leak: Dry the area and run the pump briefly to see exactly where water is seeping from (threads, union face, or housing crack).
- Check unions: Tighten union nuts by hand plus a small additional turn with a strap wrench. Do not overtighten.
- Inspect for cracks: Look closely at the PVC male adapters and the Waterway pump ports for hairline cracks. Replace any cracked fittings.
- Re‑plumb if needed: If the threaded connection is leaking due to poor sealant, cut out the fitting, install a new fitting with proper PTFE tape and/or thread sealant, and reconnect.
- Housing damage: If the pump housing itself is cracked at the port, replace the Waterway pump housing.
