Possible Causes

Shorted touchpad membrane, Failed electronic oven control (EOC) board, Stuck relay on control board, Moisture ingress into fascia panel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off the range at the wall switch or breaker and allow it to cool completely before working. Do not work on live circuits.

  • Power reset: Switch off the cooker at the mains for 5–10 minutes, then restore power. If F1 clears and does not return, it may have been a transient fault.
  • Check for stuck keys: With power off, gently press each button on the fascia/touchpad of the AGA control panel. Look for keys that feel different, stick, or do not click. If any are stuck, clean around them with a slightly damp cloth (no solvents) and try again.
  • Inspect fascia for moisture/grease: Remove the control panel cover (usually a few screws from the underside or behind the fascia). Look for signs of moisture, steam damage, or grease on the ribbon cable and board. Dry gently with a hair dryer on low heat from a distance if moisture is present.
  • Check ribbon cable: Disconnect and reseat the keypad ribbon cable on the control board, ensuring it is fully inserted and not corroded. If the plastic tail is damaged or cracked, the keypad assembly must be replaced.
  • If F1 persists: The electronic oven control (EOC) or the keypad/fascia assembly is likely faulty. Replacement of the control module is typically required and may involve transferring wiring harnesses exactly as found. Photograph all connections before removal.

When to call a technician: If you are not comfortable removing the fascia or handling electronic boards, or if the fault returns immediately after reset, contact an AGA-authorised service engineer.
