Gas burner ignites but goes out when knob is released on AGA range

Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Work only with the gas supply off when removing components. Gas work should be carried out by a qualified engineer.
- Hold knob longer: Press and hold the control knob for 5–10 seconds after ignition to allow the thermocouple to heat fully. If the flame then holds, this may be normal behaviour.
- Check flame contact: Ensure the flame properly envelopes the thermocouple tip. Clean the burner ports so the flame is even and reaches the sensor.
- Inspect thermocouple: If the flame is correct but still goes out, the thermocouple may be worn or damaged and should be replaced.
When to call a technician: Replacement of thermocouples and FSD gas valves must be done by a gas-safe engineer familiar with AGA ranges.
