Possible Causes
Burned-out coil element, Loose or burned element receptacle, Weak infinite switch, Corroded terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off power or unplug the range.
- Swap elements: Move the suspect coil to another same-size burner position. If it still does not heat, the coil is bad. If it works in another position, the receptacle or switch is suspect.
- Inspect receptacle: Remove the element and inspect the plug-in receptacle for burns or looseness; replace if damaged.
- Replace coil: Install a new Amana-compatible coil element if the old one is open or deformed.
- Check infinite switch: If coil and receptacle are good but burner still fails, replace the infinite switch for that burner.
