Possible Causes

Shorted oven temperature sensor, Sensor wiring harness shorted to chassis, Moisture or grease contamination in sensor connector, Failed sensor input circuit on control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn off power at the breaker before servicing.

  • Inspect sensor and wiring:
    • Locate the oven sensor probe in the oven cavity.
    • Remove mounting screws and gently pull the sensor out.
    • Check the wiring for melted insulation or contact with metal chassis.
  • Test sensor resistance: With the sensor disconnected, measure resistance at room temperature. If reading is very low (near 0 Ω) or far below 1000 Ω, the sensor is shorted and must be replaced.
  • Check for shorts to ground: With a multimeter, check each sensor lead to chassis ground. There should be no continuity. If there is, repair or replace the harness.
  • Control board: If sensor and harness test good, the electronic control board may have an internal short and should be replaced.
