Possible Causes
Shorted or open keypad membrane, Damaged ribbon cable between keypad and control, Failed electronic oven control interface circuit, Moisture or spill intrusion into control panel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker before removing the control panel.
- Check for moisture: If a spill or steam recently hit the control panel, allow it to dry completely (several hours with power off). Sometimes the code clears after drying.
- Inspect keypad ribbon:
- Remove the back cover of the control console.
- Locate the flat ribbon cable from the keypad to the control board.
- Unplug and inspect for corrosion, cracks, or burnt spots.
- Clean contacts gently with isopropyl alcohol and reseat firmly.
- Test keypad: If available, use the built-in keypad test mode (refer to the tech sheet behind the control panel). If certain keys do not respond, the keypad/touchpad is defective.
- Replace failed component: Replace the touchpad/control panel assembly if the keypad is faulty. If the keypad tests good but F5 persists, replace the electronic oven control board.
