Possible Causes
Failed door lock motor assembly, Broken or jammed door latch, Faulty door lock switch, Wiring issue between lock assembly and control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power at the breaker. The door lock mechanism can move unexpectedly when power is restored.
- Allow oven to cool: If just after self-clean, wait until the oven is completely cool; the lock will not release while hot.
- Check for mechanical jam:
- Inspect the door latch area for bent metal, grease buildup, or foreign objects.
- Gently move the latch with a screwdriver (with power off) to see if it is stuck.
- Access lock assembly:
- Remove the rear panel or top panel (depending on model) to access the door lock motor assembly.
- Inspect the lock motor, linkage, and switches for damage or disconnection.
- Test lock motor and switches:
- With a multimeter, check continuity of the lock motor coil and door lock switches according to the tech sheet.
- Replace the door lock assembly if the motor is open or switches do not change state when the latch is moved.
- Wiring and control: If the lock assembly tests good, inspect wiring to the control board. If wiring is intact, the electronic control may be defective and require replacement.
